This is a finely knotted elegant 7.4x11.4 Simi Antique Persian
Nain, hand
woven in the 1940s This rug is in excellent condition (for its age). There are
no stains, no holes or tears, and all the edges are original. The rug is very
clean and with normal
care this rug will last another 50 years. The wool is very soft and the colors
are absolutely gorgeous. A great rug for a dinning Room, family room, or a

The town of Nain is located at
the western edge of the desert ninety miles east of Isfahan. The rugs from
here are among the finest woven in Iran, Which is a weave that is
comparable to the most excellent of the antique carpets. The making of
hand-knotted rugs in Nain began only in the 1930’s. The city of Nain for
many generations produced a fine quality of hand-made wool cloth, which
was used by Persians to make their fine clothes. But when Persians began
to wear European clothes the cloth industry was diminished, so the people
in Nain turned to rug weaving just before World War I
